A Lit-en-Bateau or Sleigh Bed, an iconic design of the Late French Empire/Louis-Philippe Period. Somewhere between a King Single and Double size.
Unusually crafted from solid Fruitwood rather than the typical veneer, it has taken on a rich patina and has been fully restored. Still with its original iron hardware, this bed is solid and sturdy, and despite its age it is fully functional as a guest bed, child's bed, or daybed.
Minor structural repairs have been undertaken to the underside of one of the headboards to ensure it lasts for generations to come.
A custom sized cushion or mattress completes the piece. Disassembles for transport and is easy to assemble for immediate use.
Date: c. 1830
Origin: French
Style: Louis-Philippe, Late Empire
Dimensions: 110cm wide, 200cm long and 100cm tall.
