The circular top is arranged in finely matched sections of figured and burr walnut veneer, centred by a small geometric diamond motif and displaying considerable natural variation and depth of colour. Raised on a simple cylindrical pedestal terminating in a broad circular foot, itself laid with radiating walnut veneers.
The restrained form and emphasis on highly figured timber are characteristic of Continental furniture of the interwar period, with the simplified pedestal profile retaining an influence from earlier Biedermeier design.
Presented in good antique condition with a warm, established patina and expected age-related marks and checking to the veneered surface.
