A handsome William IV mahogany tilt-top centre table, dating to the second quarter of the nineteenth century.
The circular top veneered in richly figured plum-pudding mahogany and bordered with fine boxwood rope inlay, tilting vertically upon its pedestal mechanism, above a faceted baluster-form support and stepped base, raised on four shaped supports terminating in distinctive club-form feet.
Of particularly striking colour and figure, with the tilting top displaying the full character of the mahogany when raised and giving the table a strong architectural presence both open and upright.
In good antique condition, with expected marks, wear and minor surface variation commensurate with age and use. The tilt mechanism remains operational.
