An English Regency mahogany washstand of elegant, restrained proportions, dating to the early 19th century.
The rectangular top is enclosed by a three-quarter gallery with shaped end returns, above a pair of frieze drawers retaining brass ring handles with floral backplates. The table is raised on four slender ring-turned legs, giving the piece a particularly light and refined profile.
Originally intended as a washstand, the form lends itself equally well to use as a console, dressing table or small writing table.
The mahogany has developed a warm, mellow surface with characteristic marks and wear consistent with age and use.
England, 1815-1830
Dimensions: 87H X 92W X 57D CM
