A small framed relief depicting an Alpine pastoral scene, with a bearded traveller or hunter standing before a seated woman, livestock, timber chalet and mountainous landscape beyond.
The relief is finely modelled with deliberately worked surface texture, particularly evident in the incised sky, clothing and landscape. The dark charcoal finish gives the composition considerable depth, set within a warm-toned hexagonal oak frame. The relief appears to have been modelled in clay or a similar composition material, although the precise medium has not been established.
In good vintage condition with minor surface wear and marks to the frame consistent with age.
Continental Europe, probably Germany or Austria, Mid-20th Century.
Dimensions: 27 cm high × 24 cm wide
