A handsome George IV mahogany bureau, dating to the early nineteenth century.
The rectangular top above a sloping fall front, opening to reveal a fitted interior comprising an arrangement of small drawers, pigeonholes and a central cupboard, with a generous writing surface supported by hinged side lopers. Below, four graduated long drawers fitted with decorative circular brass handles, the whole raised upon shaped bracket feet.
Of particularly attractive colour and patina, with richly figured flame mahogany veneers arranged in striking symmetrical patterns across the fall front and drawer fronts. A pleasing example of late Georgian cabinetmaking, combining restrained proportions with an unusually decorative selection of timber.
In good antique condition, with expected wear, marks, minor veneer imperfections and historic repairs commensurate with age. Recently cleaned and polished, retaining its attractive aged finish.
