A good George III bow-front chest of drawers in richly figured mahogany, dating to the early nineteenth century.
The gently bowed rectangular top above two short and three graduated long drawers, each with cockbeaded edges and fitted with circular brass ring handles, the carcass raised upon splayed bracket feet.
Of particularly attractive colour and patina, with strong flame and curl figuring across the drawer fronts, top and case sides, and a pleasingly generous scale characteristic of the period.
In good antique condition, with expected wear, marks and historic repairs commensurate with age and use. Minor losses include one deficient brass ring pull, with the original backplate retained, and a small historic loss to the rear right foot.
England, c. 1810–1825.
Dimensions: 130cm wide, 100cm tall, 55cm deep.
$350 flat-rate delivery available for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne Metropolitan areas. Contact us to arrange inspection or collection by appointment from Teneriffe, Queensland.
