A French Henri II style bedside cabinet in solid oak, with a polished black granite top above a single drawer retaining its original decorative brass handle. The architectural form is supported by four turned columns surrounding an open shelf, above a panelled cupboard door with geometric mouldings and original turned timber handle. Raised on small castors.
The cabinet is characteristic of the French Renaissance Revival of the late nineteenth century, with restrained architectural ornament, turned supports and geometric panelling. The oak displays attractive figuring throughout and retains a rich, naturally aged patina.
In good antique condition, with wear, marks, minor losses and historic shrinkage consistent with age and use. Sympathetically cleaned and waxed while retaining the original surface and variations in colour.
France, late 19th century.
Dimensions: 40cm wide, 37cm deep and 87cm tall.
$350 flat-rate delivery available for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne Metropolitan areas. Contact us to arrange inspection or collection by appointment from Teneriffe, Queensland.
