A mid-19th century Continental centre table in walnut, with a broad shaped oval top above a moulded frieze, raised on a faceted central pedestal and quadripartite base with restrained carved detail and swept scroll feet.
The design combines a decorative, softly lobed top with an unusually architectural base, giving the table a restrained Continental character distinct from the more heavily ornamented English furniture of the same period. The walnut has a warm, mellow colour with visible variation and figuring throughout.
In good antique condition, with expected surface wear, marks and minor age-related movement consistent with its age and use.
