A German Biedermeier cylinder bureau in richly figured flame mahogany, the broad roll front opening to a fitted architectural interior of small drawers, compartments and a central cupboard above a generous writing surface.
The restrained case is enlivened by particularly expressive matched mahogany veneers across the cylinder and lower drawers, with a stepped top, rounded front corners and turned feet. Brass escutcheon handles punctuate the otherwise spare lower façade. The compact proportions and extensive fitted interior make the bureau both highly decorative and eminently usable.
In good antique condition, retaining a warm, well-developed surface. Recently cleaned and hand polished. Expected marks, knocks, minor veneer imperfections and old repairs consistent with age and use.
