A handsome William & Mary walnut chest of drawers, dating to the late seventeenth or very early eighteenth century.
The crossbanded rectangular top above two short and three graduated long drawers, with figured walnut fronts framed by crossbanding and fitted with decorative brass escutcheons and pendant handles, the moulded carcass upon later bun feet.
Of particularly attractive colour and patina, with richly figured walnut throughout and pleasing proportions characteristic of the period.
In good antique condition, with expected wear, marks, veneer movement and historic repairs commensurate with considerable age.

A handsome mid-nineteenth century cedar pedestal occasional table, dating to the early Victorian period.
The circular moulded top raised on a boldly turned baluster pedestal, above a low circular platform base terminating in three projecting feet.
Of particularly attractive warm colour and patina, with pleasing compact proportions and a restrained architectural form. The timber and construction are consistent with Australian colonial cedar furniture of the period.
In good antique condition, with expected wear, marks and surface variation commensurate with age, together with historic strengthening and repairs beneath the base.

Fine antique furniture
We source antiques both locally and internationally, using techniques employed by archaeologists and historians to identify, date and assess our acquisitions.
Every item is carefully inspected for wear and damage. Where necessary, pieces are restored in-house to address imperfections while preserving their original character.

Timeless designs adapted for modern living
While antique furniture brings timeless elegance to a space, it does not always align perfectly with the realities of modern living.
Antique beds rarely fit modern mattress sizes. Finding matching bedside tables or dining chairs can be difficult. Larger pieces, designed for grander homes of another era, can also present practical challenges.
To address this, Éditeur offers a small collection of bespoke, made-to-order pieces inspired by Neoclassical and Biedermeier design. These are handcrafted from solid mahogany using traditional methods, allowing timeless forms to be adapted for contemporary homes while retaining the integrity and craftsmanship of the originals.
